Another year has come to a close for Canadian FireFighter Appreciation Day & Charity Fitness Challenge and there is much to be thankful for!
First and foremost, with the help of all of you, in 2012 alone we managed to raise $10,000 for the Canadian Fallen FireFighters Foundation. Tha brings the FFAD total to over $25K for the past 4 years. In addition, we were able to also donate $500 to the Canadian FireFighters Museum to help preserve the history of this honourable profession.
A sincere thanks to all who contributed.
There are over 1,000 pictures of the day thanks to Heather Kearns of A Thousand Words Photography. She captured the grit, fun, blood, sweat and emotion of the entire day.
Have a browse through Heather’s FaceBook page or check back shortly for the photos on our FFAD site’s Flickr photostream.
Here’s a great video compilation of Milton Fire Department’s team as they competed throughout the day. Thanks to Cody Harding for producing this one!
FireFighter Challenge Results
After the 3 official events and the 4th surprise event (fastest team up the Rock Climbing wall), here’s the results of the team competition for all 3 categories. Congrats to all who participated regardless of where you placed. And a special thank you to The Dependables, a team of Milton Town Councilors who survived their way through 2 of the 4 events.
Youth Sports “Fittest Team Challenge”
This year’s event also hosted Reebok CrossFit’s Youth Sports “Fittest Team Challenge”. Local sports teams were invited to compete in a CrossFit competition that would reveal the Fittest Team regardless of sport. 6 teams completed a “Fight Gone Bad” style workout with burpees, situps, tire flips, KB swings, and box jumps.
- Milton District High School Boys Football Team (ages 15-18)
- Team Magic (soccer) (ages 11-14)
Each team wins Reebok training gear for the team and coaches who participated that day courtesy of Reebok Canada!
